Crazy Science – Chrysanthemums

This week’s Crazy Science explores how chrysanthemums are used as powerful, plant-based insect control against pests.

Learn how these flowers produce natural insecticides and discover why pyrethrin-based products are widely used in pest management today.

Then join us for a nature walk in the garden as we look for plants with natural defenses and a leaf chromatography demo in the classroom to see the hidden pigments inside real leaves!

Fun Fact: Pyrethrin from chrysanthemums have been used for centuries and are still found in many household repellents today!
