💡 Fun Fact: A single female mosquito can lay anywhere from 100–300 eggs at a time, often in floating clusters called egg rafts. In mosquito research labs, counting eggs isn’t just about knowing how many there are—it’s a critical step in studying mosquito biology and behavior. Egg counts help scientists monitor colony health, test the effectiveness of new insecticides or control tactics, and study how well mosquitoes can transmit diseases.
